The I Training and Employment Fair of Ofra-Costa Sur brings together 22 centers

The Municipal Training and Employment Center of Santa Cruz hosted yesterday the First Ofra-Costa Sur Training and Employment Fair, organized by the district in collaboration with the Development Society and the Training and Employment Board of the Sumando Construimos Platform, and which will end today with new talks. The opening day was attended by the mayor of the municipality, José Manuel Bermúdez, together with the CEO of the Development Society, Alfonso Cabello, and the councilors of the Ofra-Costa Sur district, Gladis de León, and the councilor for Social Action, Rosario González .

The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, explained that “the event is designed to facilitate contact between entities, companies, vocational training centers and people interested in finding a job or improving their professional profile” and added that “in total, 22 training centers will meet, among which are Vocational Training institutes and centers, and training entities such as the Adecco Foundation or the Construction Labor Foundation”.

“The ultimate objective of this fair – Bermúdez highlighted -, as well as the rest of the initiatives that we are promoting on employment and training is to reduce unemployment levels in Santa Cruz” and with respect to the fair, he specified that “it combines closed and open spaces to the public, with the intention of focusing on attendees who can show interest in the different training proposals beforehand”.

Alfonso Cabello commented that “among the offer of Vocational Training there will be Electricity and Electronics, Installation and Maintenance, Mechanical Manufacturing, Graphic Arts or Transport and Maintenance of Vehicles” and added that information on “Agriculture, Wood, Furniture and Cork , Building and Civil Works, Sports Education, Energy and Water, Agrarian and Security, Environment, Decorative and Industrial Painting in Construction and Industrial Maintenance”.

On the other hand, Cabello continued, “in the area of ​​guidance and job search centers will be SUMAS, Domitila Hernández Association, Radio Ecca, Afes Mental Health, AHETE, Messengers of Peace, Adecco Foundation or Barrios X Employment” and added that “The Chamber of Commerce, Facocip, Construction Labor Foundation, Information and Professional Guidance Government of the Canary Islands and the Employment Agency of the Development Society will also be providing information.”

For her part, the councilor of the Ofra-Costa Sur district, Gladis de León, pointed out that “in the activities section, whose public is already closed, talks such as ‘Tips to improve your CV’ or ‘Training alternatives’ have been scheduled. , taught by various employment and training centers” and added that “there will also be discussion tables on different topics of training-labour interest, in which young students and women job seekers will participate”.

The mayor concluded by thanking “the centers and entities that are participating in the fair for their involvement in improving the employability of citizens” and valued “the work that has been carried out from the Ofra-Costa Sur district, the Sociedad of Development and the Training and Employment Board of the Sumando Construimos Platform to carry out an event that we hope will have a second edition”.

The Municipal Institute of Social Attention (IMAS) also participated in this Fair, through the Sumando Construimos Platform, “because of the involvement we have -advanced the Councilor for Social Action- with the integration of the most vulnerable groups and those with the greatest difficulty in employability, including young people and women” and Rosario González added that “it must be remembered that the IMAS is present in several alternatives for the training and employment of vulnerable individuals and families, aware that employment is the best strategy against to social exclusion”, the councilor clarified.
