Ten years after the Mixed Association of Compensation of the Güímar Valley Industrial Estate ceded, by law, to the three town councils (Arafo, Candelaria and Güímar), it is on the verge of creating a consortium for its maintenance and conservation under the responsibility of the three consistories and the Cabildo de Tenerife. This last body, after the delays in creating the Urban Conservation Entity (EUC) with the businessmen, has decided on the legal figure of a consortium, agreeing on this occasion with the three municipal secretaries and the legal services of the Cabildo.
The bases of this agreement will be announced today in an extraordinary plenary session in the Arafo Town Hall and later the same will be done in Candelaria and Güímar until the signature can be formalized. Among other reasons, there are fringes to solve, such as the financing of the consortium -when an attempt was made to create the EUC, it was going to endow it with 50,000 euros from each City Council-, how the members of the board of directors are chosen and what representation corresponds to each. What is already clear is that the Chiguenge well, which still belongs to the Mixed Association, would become the property of the municipalities, thus guaranteeing an income of almost 800,000 euros per year.
The employers, in addition, will pay a fee for sanitation, once the regulation of discharges within the consortium to be created enters into operation.
The president of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Owners of the Valle de Güímar industrial estate, Raquel Malo, already warned that, with that rate and without the well, with what it means in the increase in the price of water, “it would become the industrial estate most expensive in the Canary Islands”.
Almost 300,000 euros to tender a fountain in Las Caletillas
The Candelaria City Council has put out to tender the Las Caletillas Fountain project for an amount of 286,145.99 euros. The mayoress, Mari Brito, recalls that the project, which had the consensus and approval of the Punta Larga and Las Caletillas Community Board, aims to finish conditioning the free space located at the confluence of Avenida Marítima and Calle Moss Pool. Interested companies can submit their proposals until April 9.
