Tenerife tram workers call an indefinite strike

The strike committee of the Metropolitan of Tenerife, company responsible for trolley car and owned by the Cabildo, has announced on Tuesday the breakdown of talks with the company and the call for indefinite striketo date it was by hourly sections, due to “the coercive attitudes and retaliation” of the president and vice president of the company against some workers.

Some facts, says CCOO in a statement, which have been brought to the attention of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the legal services of the unions.

The workers indicate that they are not willing to call off this strike or to sit at a table “until the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, takes action on the matter.”

Likewise, the strike committee requests the support of the political groups of the island corporation to defend a specific worker, Jonathan Abreu, and indicates that it will continue to call the information pickets in front of the Cabildo de Tenerife every Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. at 11:30 a.m.

Finally, it asks citizens to participate in this protest action by sharing the hashtag #TodosSomosAbreu on social networks.
