SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The general secretary of the PSOE Canarias, Ángel Víctor Torres, has advocated “0 tolerance” for corruption and has said that cases such as ‘Mediator’ have no place in the party.
This is how the Canarian president also revealed this Saturday during the celebration of the Regional Committee of the party that has approved the electoral lists for this May 28.
“We have witnessed a few weeks that have been very hard, very difficult. A few weeks in which we have been able to verify behaviors that as human beings that we are are abhorrent, abominable, reprehensible and absolutely disgusting,” he said.
For Torres, this type of act “does not fit” in any case in the PSOE. “I have said – he added – that before this we must apologize to the public because they are behaviors that can only be denounced, and when it comes to socialist comrades what you have to do is act immediately, forcefully and breaking with anything that deviates from the ethical and moral code of our organization”.
In the same way, he recalled that in just eight hours since the arrests took place, the party suspended members and separated those who were being investigated from the organization. “And that means immediate action,” he said.
He insisted here on having a “0 tolerance” for those who become corrupt, deviate from the laws and violate the PSOE’s code of ethics, an ethical code, he pointed out, to which “other organizations must join.”
“There are those who claim to give lessons, and what they do when they have corruption cases is hide, or when they have colleagues who denounce alleged cases of corruption, they separate them. That is the difference,” he asserted.
