SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Nueva Canarias (NC) and Iniciativa por El Rosario-Verdes (IR-Verdes) have sealed an agreement this Friday by which they will provide mutual support in the elections to the El Rosario City Council, Tenerife Cabildo and the Canarian Parliament.

Román Rodríguez, president of NC, and Escolástico Gil, his counterpart from IR-Verdes, thus endorsing an alliance so that El Rosario and Tenerife “continue to prosper as a result of the union of our forces.”

The confluence with El Rosario-Verdes is, according to the president of NC, “a clearly transformative political space committed to the people, the environment, progress and democracy, we go hand in hand with a force with history and tradition in this municipality that has been capable, with the help of Escolástico Gil, of transforming the local reality to build a space that allows us to unite groups, collectives and people with values that respect Canarian culture and traditions”.

Rodríguez, who was accompanied by the president of NC in Tenerife, Daniel Díaz; the Secretary of Self-Government of NC, Carmen Nieves Gaspar; and the Secretary for Territorial Implantation, Valentín Correa, highlighted the autonomy of IR-Verdes, “which has consolidated a government majority that will be backed again by the citizens next May and that will serve as support for the island and regional lists that presents Nueva Canarias”.

Both parties, he pointed out, “we want a productive economic system that generates employment to build the island of Tenerife that we need and the Canary Islands that we deserve.”

Along these lines, he indicated that the values that prevail in this agreement are the energy transition, digitization and “making a more just and balanced society.”

“We are firm defenders of the welfare state and the universality of health and education. In the Canary Islands we have problems of inequality and that sector must be attended to and have a response according to their needs,” he stressed.

In the presence of the first deputy mayor and spokesperson for the IR-Verdes Municipal Group, Fátima Gutiérrez and the councilors Juan Jesús del Rosario, Julio Gutiérrez and Rosa María Izquierdo, Gil stated that this agreement “demonstrates that a close and close relationship is possible “, which was believed to be “reserved for large cities or councils” and both formations share the Canarian 2030 agenda and have signed 40 common objectives.

GENEROUS COLLABORATION AND MUTUAL RESPECT

“The collaboration between this municipality and the economic vice-presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands has been generous, mutual support and problem-solving. We are pleased to say that, together, we have formed an unbeatable team,” said Gil.

The mayor has indicated that “Román Rodríguez’s management is there” and he does not hesitate to continue collaborating with him because the results of the joint management of Nueva Canarias and IR-Verdes “deserve the opportunity to continue growing in the next legislature”.

“This agreement is important because of what we want for the future. We have a lot of work to do. I owe it to my people and I’m staying in El Rosario,” he said, confirming his only candidacy for mayor.

Gil also stressed that the agreement signed this Friday represents a model for the future for independent forces at the municipal level with which he wishes to maintain contact “and expand relations on a horizontal plane of equality in Tenerife.”

In fact, he said that “to reach that horizon, we must share a vision that goes far beyond an electoral appointment” because there are still “separate strategies” and the agreement that has been signed is the one that could be signed “without forcing the strategy of the other”.

Escolástico Gil also assured that these first steps “are very basic and humble, but they are firm” and “time will tell” what they are capable of building as of May 28.

“Now it’s time, once again, to win in El Rosario and defend a way of managing from good government. Today we leave here to win. Each one in their own land. This is an honest, clean, transparent and clear agreement. An agreement from loyalty,” he concluded.
