The Insular Committee of the PSOE approves the list of Pedro Martín for the Cabildo

The Insular Committee of the PSOE of Tenerife unanimously approved last Tuesday, in Puerto de la Cruz, Pedro Martín’s list for the local elections on May 28 in the Cabildo. The current insular president highlights the municipal nature of his Island project with an equitable distribution of resources for the 31 Tenerife Town Halls and prominence of the employmentsustainability and citizen participation in decision-making

Martín had an impact on the idea that “we defend municipalism as a hallmark and put an end to a Cabildo that managed money arbitrarily”. He recalled that “for the first time in the history of the Cabildo” employment plans have been launched in all municipalities, as well as social care programs to reach families that have suffered the worst during these years. «And we have done it without demanding a photo from anyone, without handing out checks in large events; our criteria, that of the Socialist Party, is supportive, far from prominence and clientelist models, “said Martín.

The president of the Cabildo recognized those who have represented the PSOE in the last four years in the island institution. In addition, he raised the axes of his project for the Island, “with plans that look towards a future linked to environmental aspects.”

Martín emphasized work in the area for the elderly, where the focus has been placed not only on filling leisure and free time gaps, but on ensuring that “they are autonomous people, protagonists, citizens and citizens.” The insular general secretary of the PSOE valued: «We must think, as during these four years, of giving real support to groups and entities that nobody cared for, stimulating participation and giving the place they deserve to those who work for others and represent solidarity that identifies us as an Island”.

Nira Fierro, Secretary of Organization in Canary Islands and president of the socialist parliamentary group, pointed out the “obligation” of the Tenerife PSOE to continue transforming the Canary Islands and Tenerife since “this is the party of the citizenry and that is what represents us and unites us as an organization.”

For his part, Mark gonzalez, mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, the host municipality of the Island Committee, recalled that “the citizens of Tenerife need strong, solid administrations, something that Pedro Martín’s team offers”. In addition, he highlighted the municipalist desire to put people at the center of decisions regardless of their place of residence.
