The Council for Children and Adolescents of La Laguna recently held a working meeting with political and technical representatives from the municipal government areas to find out about the activity of the City Council and discuss the demands and needs that they have collected among the underage population and among the neighbors of the towns and neighborhoods in which they reside.

As a result of this meeting, a motion arises that, supported by all the municipal groups, will be presented by the members of this Council in today’s plenary session of the Corporation and where they demand an institutional commitment to promote and improve different local realities.

With a total of 15 points, the Council proposes various interventions in terms of accessibility, safety and cleanliness; the creation of more green areas, more leisure spaces and specific cultural proposals for youth and children, or the implementation of a permanent program of purple points and charging stations for electronic devices in parks and rest areas, among other actions .

The Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents of La Laguna, an advisory body to the City Council and made up of boys and girls from all over the municipality, already argued in that session the importance of incorporating a technical and administrative vision to the demands of the Laguna child population, as well as to jointly design effective measures that can be applied in the next four years.

“As a result of this action, this plenary motion arises and the cooperation agreement is renewed and expanded to give voice to the child and adolescent population of La Laguna in public affairs”, highlights the Councilor for Social Welfare, Rubens Ascanio.

The new Childhood Plan will be approved in the middle of this year

The Childhood and Adolescence Council will see its participatory and action work reinforced with the drafting of the new La Laguna Childhood Plan, “a document that we hope to approve in the middle of this year, which will be valid until the end of 2027 and with which we aspire to to renew the declaration of La Laguna as a Child-Friendly City by Unicef”, said councilor Rubens Ascanio. The mayor adds that the Municipal Children’s Council approved the plan in its first session, with a broad program of activities.
