The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, has indicated that the start-up of these three regulating water supply tanks that give a volume of about 7,500 cubic meters distributed in three different areas and that serve some 14,000 people, a third of the municipality’s population “and who needed repair a long time ago.”

He also added that “it is true that the works have taken time to complete but they have finally been completed within this mandate and, in this way, not only a sufficient supply of water can be guaranteed, but also adequate conditions for the treatment of the waters as marked by sanitary regulations”.

The second deputy mayor of the municipality and delegated councilor for the areas of Land Management and Planning, Environment and Climate Change, Infrastructure in General, Public Transport and Security, Narciso Pérez, pointed out that “they were very necessary works, it is true that These are infrastructures that are vital for daily development and thanks to this cooperation between the two administrations there are today some modern deposits in safe conditions from the sanitary point of view for the supply of the inhabitants of the municipality”.

For his part, the councilor for Municipal Cooperation and Housing of the Cabildo, Zebenzui Chinea, recalled that this intervention “was a priority due to the interest it has in its relationship with supply water” and pointed out that “for the Cabildo it was essential to make this contribution and improves and regulates the quality of water in this municipality”.

A total of 330,000 euros has been invested in the Los Cuartos deposit, 350,000 euros in the Polo road, and 220,000 euros in the La Planta deposit, according to a note from the Cabildo.

The works consisted of replacing the roofs, the beams and the pillars that supported the three tanks, due to the deterioration in which they were found.

The works have also included interior waterproofing and the placement of new entrance pipes on the roof.

In order not to interrupt the water supply and guarantee the supply, the works have been carried out in a concatenated manner, first executing a basin in each tank and, once completely finished and put into operation, the adjoining basin.
