SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife will allocate 6,336,296 million euros this year in direct aid to livestock on the island, which is 30 percent more than in 2022, in order to promote the economic recovery of the sector and contribute to the sustainability of its productivity.

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, informed that “just today we have approved in the Governing Council the bases and the call for aid for livestock feeding, to which this year we have allocated 2.5 million euros, almost double what we allocate in 2022, to try to alleviate the extra costs of feed for livestock”.

He added that “from the Cabildo we are working so that our aid does not overlap with that of other administrations. In this way we achieve that a sector so important for the supply of the population and the social and economic support of many families and municipalities, have income continuous throughout the year.

For his part, the Island Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, stressed that this year “we are going to urgently process all aid related to the supply of food, which will help reduce uncertainty and promote business confidence and productivity in the sector”.

The head of the primary sector advanced that the bases of the aid to the Livestock Health Defense Groups (ADSG) of the island will also be published soon, for a value of 100,000 euros, “always keeping in mind that they do not coincide with the aid from other administrations to facilitate the submission of applications.

The Cabildo’s grant plan for this year contemplates another five lines of action. Specifically, 140,000 euros will be allocated to complementary feeding of bees and 200,000 euros to artisan cheese factories, in order to improve the conditions for obtaining and handling sheep and goat milk, and to promote the implementation of animal health and health measures. public on farms.

206,722 euros will also be invested in assisting the insemination of pigs and rabbits, 30,000 euros for the promotion of traditional breeds, 15,000 to reinforce the work of the Association of Livestock Farmers of Tenerife (AGATE) and 8,950 euros for other livestock associations.

To all this is added the 1,132,779 euros allocated to extend the suspension of transport fees and costs for the use of the Tenerife Island Slaughterhouse and the 1,959,617 euros allocated to the maintenance of this infrastructure.
