The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, has highlighted the good reception that these employment plans have had in all the municipalities, “launched for the first time during this mandate to respond to one of the problems that most concern Tenerife society How is the job?

Specifically, this plan provides direct and effective aid to all the island’s town halls with which the aim is to improve the conditions of the most vulnerable groups, such as young people, women and the long-term unemployed.

“This is an unprecedented initiative in the Cabildo with which we help municipalities to implement works or services of general and social interest that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the local level, as well as to the diversification of the insular productive structure”, added the president.

Pedro Martín also highlighted the boost given to quality jobs with municipal plans. “Six out of every four jobs created with these plans are for qualified personnel,” said the president, who added that 87% of the plans’ budget is invested in new hires.

For her part, the Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, emphasized that it is “an innovative employment plan that provides comprehensive support to the unemployed, so that, in addition to promote their hiring, important training and prospecting work is carried out so that, once the project ends, the participating unemployed people can reintegrate into the labor market”.

Carmen Luz Baso explained that currently half of the town halls have begun to provide prior training that helps the participants to improve their personal and professional skills in relation to the activities they are going to carry out and to which it is intended. 10% of the total budget.

In addition, in seven municipalities, as is the case of Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Arafo, Icod de los Vinos, Los Silos, El Tanque and Candelaria, the first contracts under the employment plan are expected to be carried out at the end of this March or early April.

At the local level, most of the projected plans have the specific objectives of promoting equality between women and men, diversifying the local productive structure, promoting sustainable development at the local level, enhancing the natural and cultural heritage and reinforcing social services.

Of the total of 551 contracts planned throughout the island, 339 are for qualified personnel, 176 for unqualified personnel and 36 for plan support and coordination personnel. The average duration of employment contracts financed under this plan is nine months.

The list of qualified personnel is very diverse and includes around twenty profiles, including home help assistant, job counselor, social integrator, psychologist, social educator, local facilitator, lawyer and architect, among others.

With regard to jobs that do not require qualification, the main demands of the municipalities are focused on gardening, construction and cleaning laborers, who represent 60% of the contracts, in addition to masonry officer, accompanying caretaker or environmental laborers. , forestry and agriculture.

Financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (Fdcan), the Municipal Employment Plan reserves 50% of the contracts for young people up to 30 years of age without a previous job or who have been unemployed for more than a year. Priority is also given to hiring women and the long-term unemployed.

With this there are already three Municipal Employment Plans executed by the Cabildo, in coordination with the 31 municipalities of the island since 2020 and which have involved a global investment of 29 million euros with which the hiring of 2,006 unemployed people has been promoted. .
