He passed away in July 2018, his native Villa wanted to recognize his political, social, business and sports career.
The tribute began around seven in the evening with the labeling of the central street between the aforementioned church and Patricio Garcia square. Subsequently, the Noble Hall of the Town Hall of the orotava hosted the act that gave posthumous recognition to this businessman and exedil from Orotava. Francisco Linares assured this Thursday that it was “a well-deserved and emotional act in memory of Anthony Santos, an extraordinary person and loved by all, with great values and principles. He highlighted that he had an important role in the municipality, as a councilor for the villero town hallbusinessman and co-founder and president of San Isidro Basketball Club.
Isaac Santosson of the honoree, said a few words of thanks on behalf of the family, and the former MEP isidoro sanchez intervened to highlight the career and life of the honoree, with whom he shared many years of friendship, and who highlighted his contribution to the development of the Villa and many groups, with whom he was “a true patron.”
Anthony Santos Cruz was born in La Orotava in July 1941. In 1965 he married Candelaria Valencia Dominguez and the fruit of the union were born the four children Toño (DEP), Cande, Carmen Dolores and Isaac. Throughout his life he was linked to various sports, especially basketball. He gave his maximum support to the San Isidro Basketball Club, who was able to survive in the worst moments thanks to his contribution. He was a councilor in two stages, first with the Partido Popular Canario and later with the Agrupación Independiente de La Orotava (AIO), which years later ended up joining the Tenerife Association of Independents (TO YOU).
He was also a prominent entrepreneur, businessman in the optics and jewelry sector in Tenerife. His figure is an institution within multi-opticsof which he became president.
