The mayor of Urbanism and Security of the City Council of La Orotava and municipal spokesman, Narciso Perez (CC)and the mayor villero, Francisco Linares (CC)denounced in the plenary session of this Tuesday, February 28 that the El Rincón Consortium is “inactive” again and regretted that “since the arrival of the PSOE to the Government of the Canary Islands” has spent most of the mandate “doing practically nothing”. For Linares, the proof that it has not been a priority for the Socialists is clear with a comparison: “In the 2015-2019 term the El Rincón Consortium met 37 times and in the current one, between 2019 and 2023, it has met four times in four years”.

the aedile samuel tablefrom the PSOE, asked the local government (CC) regarding Mobility alternatives in El Rincón once finished the stairs of Los Patos beach to prevent the usual traffic chaos from occurring again next summer due to the number of vehicles that come to an area with narrow, two-way roads and few parking spaces. The Socialist councilor recalled that “summer is upon us and we want to know if it is going to some kind of solution to try to reduce the traffic chaos and mobility problems that they are going to be given”.

Narciso Perez responded that “since the beginning of the mandate, the project to improve and condition the access road to El Bollullo beach, which cost a lot to reach an agreement with the neighbors, owners and environmentalists. That it has an economic starting point to start executing but they have been unable to tender the work in four years ”.

“Neither is any meeting of the El Rincon Consortium to this council, except for some telematic meeting to question the budget. They have even had to be required by the auditors of the Consistory and the Cabildo to return money because the Consortium does not invest it ”, criticized the mayor.

In this situation, the village government undertakes to adopt some provisional measures to try to reduce traffic and mobility problems in summer “because sadly the Consortium chaired by the PSOE does not move”. In his opinion, “he is going to finish his mandate and, except for finishing the access stairs to Los Patos beachwhich came from the previous one, the Consortium will say goodbye without having done absolutely nothing ”.

“One of these provisional measures is to start up, as in the summer of 2021, a circular one-way road between the path of La Cisterna and the path of El Ancónand increase the controls of the Local Police in the access to the El Bollullo road, which has to be closed promptly”, Pérez advanced.

“The El Rincón Consortium has 1.3 million euros in an untouched account”

Francisco Linares (CC) – Mayor of La Orotava

Francisco Linares confirmed this paralysis and recalled that “there are 1.3 million euros in the account without touching and the access road to Bollullo, which would solve all the problems and start the Mobility Plan, because neither Titsa nor the taxi drivers want to go down the road as it is”.

Linares stressed that “money has had to be repaid and this year, given the paralysis, we have not put a single euro. So that? If it turns out that then the intervention asks that it be reinstated. The operation of the Consortium in this mandate has been very saddespite having a budget that is not used because it has not been a priority”.

“The El Rincón Consortium has not been a priority for this Government of the Canary Islands. We will continue putting patchesas always, but if things had been done as they should have been done, this work would already have been tendered and the Mobility Planunderway”, sentenced the mayor of the orotava.
