SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Carnival Hospital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife performed a total of 57 visits during Piñata Friday, half of them due to alcohol poisoning.
In a statement, the City Council has indicated that the influx of public last night can be described as a festive day of transition before the celebration of the next Daytime Carnival.
Of the total number of those who required help, by age, they were distributed among 49 adults and eight minors. Regarding the gender of the people assisted, 31 were men and 26 women.
Thus, alcohol poisoning reached 28 cases –25 adults and three minors–, while another very frequent circumstance on this day were accidents due to traumatisms and falls, registering nine cases.
Regarding situations classified as aggressions, seven incidents were attended to; about eight carnival-goers received care for common illnesses.
Meanwhile, six people had to be transferred to hospital centers to carry out diagnostic tests or receive more specialized care due to their pathology. In the category of other causes, five incidents were recorded.
On the other hand, in the preventive and health device for the youngest and managed by the Spanish Red Cross, in coordination with the Local Police unit attached to the Minors’ Prosecutor’s Office, the police group registered and analyzed the data of eight minors – -five girls and three boys-.
Local Police officers arrested a man for a possible crime against public health. For their part, the members of the National Police made two arrests, one for an attack in the area around the Plaza de España; and another due to a crime against public health.
At Punto Violeta, present in the Hospital del Carnaval, the professionals assigned to said resource received two consultations and took an awareness action.
