The Insular Society for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities (Sinpromi), dependent on the Cabildo de Tenerifehas a new office in Puerto de la Cruz to serve this group in the north of the island. The headquarters are located at number 11 Avenida Melchor Luz and will focus its work on employment guidance for this group.
The third vice-president and island councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, and the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco gonzalezwere in charge of presenting the facilities recently opened by Sinpromi in the municipality to facilitate the labor integration of people with disabilities, “as a key element for their development and autonomy”, according to the counselor.
It is an office with more space, in which a team of five technicians has been working for a few months, including professionals from Sinpromi and the Barrios por el program Employment, which provide services both to people with disabilities and to companies and entities that want to participate in their labor integration. Franquet vindicated the work that is done from this service that each year attends to an average of 220 people and promotes some 130 contracts.

“In the last five years, 210 companies in the north of the island have incorporated people with disabilities into their workforces, through the mediation of the Sinpromi office. Behind each of these contracts there is a name, a family and a life, as well as intense work on the part of Sinpromi, which houses highly qualified professionals who are involved in their work”, stressed Franquet.
The counselor also highlighted “the role of the entities and companies that collaborate with Sinpromi to apply disability policies in the world of work and that are an example of corporate social responsibility.” Regarding the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, she said that it is “an important collaborator when it comes to developing new social policies that allow further decentralization of services.” Marco González highlighted “the sensitivity and commitment of the current island government to guarantee a territorial balance in the island’s social policies.”
Sinpromi has been a pioneer entity in the development of programs to facilitate the access of people with disabilities to the job market ordinary, perfecting intermediation methodologies and influencing in particular, those people with special integration difficulties. In the last two years, this objective has been reinforced and expanded with the incorporation of this island society into the Neighborhoods for Employment Project, financed by the Island Council, which aims to promote the employability of vulnerable groups. In addition, Sinpromi carries out awareness actions aimed at companies, on the values of inclusion, solidarity and respect for diversity.
