The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, said this Thursday that the ‘Mediator case’ causes him “disgust” and “highly intense discomfort” in the face of all the journalistic information that is coming out no matter how much the “presumption” must be respected of innocence”.
In a press conference to give an account of the agreements of the Governing Council, he has also denied that there have been “changes” among officials to facilitate the work of the alleged plot, as the ‘mediator’ Marco Antonio has stated in court Navarro, investigated in the case.
Pérez has said that the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Alicia Vanoostende, points out that “it is not true” that there has been “no change” in the structure of department officials and, like the president, Ángel Víctor Torres, has pointed out that “no denunciation or complaint has been produced”.
“There is nothing, no official has been separated from their functions,” he explained.
He has also indicated that the Government “does not make any comments” on the release of the former socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes since it is a “judicial decision” and has insisted that the Ministry works to deliver the documentation required by the court ” as soon as possible”.
Specifically, it refers to files from four livestock companies since 2016.
Likewise, he has remarked that there is no “anomaly” with the granting of European subsidies and sees “a crooked use of the funds very difficult” due to the controls that exist, but, nevertheless, he has pointed out that it has already started an internal investigation, with the support of the autonomous community services inspection to review all the files, work that will extend to the entire management period of the two former general directors involved in the alleged plot.
However, he has indicated that so far “no economic damage” has been identified for taxpayers or for public funds, so “technically” the autonomous community cannot appear in the legal case.
