SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, said this Thursday that the Executive is in favor of exploring a “partial exemption” in the use of the tachograph on the islands and that it is now a matter of dispute between employers and unions before the call for a lockout from Monday.

In a press conference to give an account of the agreements of the Governing Council, he commented that the Minister of Transport, Sebastián Franquis, has argued that the European standard allows “making exceptions” and that is what he has raised, during the last four months to state representatives.

Thus, the Canarian Executive is open to “studying” different options related to the type of vehicle, the type of merchandise, the distance traveled or even the routes if they affect small islands.

Pérez has also announced that the groups that support the Executive are preparing a resolution proposal in this line for the ‘Debate on the State of Nationality’ that will start next Tuesday and has valued the use of the tachograph because it gives “security” to drivers and the passengers.
