The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, visited yesterday the action that is being carried out at the crossroads at the height of July 25 that will link the Rambla de Santa Cruz pedestrianized, within the contract of roads that the Consistory has been executing in the five districts of the capital.

This section will join the Rambla de Santa Cruz for pedestrians, as was done in recent months, with the Dominican Republic square at the confluence with the avenues of Bélgica and San Sebastián, as well as at the height of the streets San Isidro, Arquitectos Saavedra and Díaz Llanos and San Martín with the Rambla, in front of the Almeyda barracks.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that “this action at the confluence of Las Ramblas with 25 de Julio street responds to the need to extend pedestrian access through this central area of Santa Cruz” and stressed that ” This work is a clear commitment by the current government team to make a city increasingly accessible and friendly for pedestrians, both for residents and visitors”.

Councilor Carlos Tarife pointed out, for his part, that “this action is being carried out in terms of pedestrian accessibility to guarantee continuity along the entire Rambla, from the Municipal Pool Acidalio Lorenzo to Avenida de Anaga”.

To which he added that “from the Public Services area we have set ourselves the goal of strengthening the central pedestrian axis, which will prevent citizens from having to deviate from their route and resort to the sidewalks to avoid roundabouts.”

This work, which consists of placing two pedestrian crossings, as well as paving and beautifying the area, is scheduled to be completed by the first week of March and thus be open to the public.
