‘Phigital Adeje 360º’: new technologies to improve shopping centers

The Adeje City Council is committed to innovation to promote the commercial area of Costa Adeje. It does so by using new technologies to establish a link between the physical and virtual commercial space. It is the basis of the Phigital Adeje 360º project that the Consistory has just presented.

The plan is subsidized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of Spain and is part of the Recovery Plan financed by the European Union within the Next Generation EU Funds.

One of the strategies proposed by Phigital Adeje 360º is the intervention in the section of the promenade that connects La Pinta beach, the Puerto Colón marina and Avenida de Colón. The purpose of this project is to improve the accessibility, functionality and aesthetics of this urban area located in Costa Adeje.

The project has an investment of 2.2 million euros, of which 80% (1.7 million) comes from a grant from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of Spain and the rest (441,000 euros) is provided by the City. This strategy is included in the master plan of the Government of the Canary Islands which provides for different actions in the commercial areas of the Islands.

The budget will be divided into 12 actions that include physical works on the commercial space of Costa Adeje, such as improving accessibility and eliminating urban barriers, among others. On the other hand, intelligent commercial tourist signage will be carried out, the creation of an online platform, advice for reducing the carbon footprint in shops, as well as electronic tickets and training.

All these planned actions have an execution period of 18 months. The Adeje City Council wants to enhance the commercial capacity of the different areas with a significant density of shops, bringing training for the continuous improvement of professionals in the sector, the promotion of local trade through new technologies and the expansion of sustainability and efficiency in resource management through the use of technology.

Phigital Adeje 360º will not be limited to the tourist area. New technologies will be used to convert traditional shopping areas into highly interactive open centers. In addition, the project aims to improve the virtual space of shops, thus improving their competitiveness and efficiency. It is about multiplying the information, communication and marketing channels of local businesses to attract new customers, retaining the old ones and increasing contact and information points.

The ‘Bitácora’ project returns to schools

The Bitácora project returns to the schools of Adeje. It is a proposal of the Department of Education to complement the contents that are proposed in the curriculum of each educational stage. Bitácora offers activities that help students to know and learn through practical experiences. With them, the knowledge and care of cultural, patrimonial, environmental and ethnographic contents will be favored. The activities will be developed according to the interests and needs that are manifested from each educational center depending on their programming and the educational projects that they develop. With Bitácora it is intended to complement the training of students in the academic, didactic and educational field in the public educational centers of the municipality, as well as to promote individual and collective behavior of responsibility in conservation and environmental protection.
