La Victoria invests 554,000 euros in an asphalt plan

He City Hall of La Victoria de Acentejo announces the launch of a new Municipal Asphalting Plan who will invest €554,000 in the improvement of twenty streets in different areas of the municipality. It will be carried out in two phases, with the objectives of “improving the conditions of road safetymobility and driving comfort of users, which will also favor the reduction in fuel consumption and less wear and tear on vehicle tires,” says the Local government (PSOE).

The Victorious Mayor, Juan Antonio Garcia Abreu, has recently visited the first performances of this plan, which will last for the next six months. The president stressed that “almost all neighborhoods will be intervened, although most will be subdivision roads that are part of the communication network of different urban centers, cultivated areas and forest areas. Therefore, in addition to safety, these road improvements will have a favorable impact on agricultural activity».

This works program will make it possible to pave and rehabilitate the pavement of some twenty streets that in total add up to an area that exceeds 35,000 square meters. Among the works, those that are going to be carried out in the routes of Pedro Hernández and Fuente El Tanque, with surfaces of 5,439 and 4,486 square meters, respectively. The selection of the roads has been made based on the state of deterioration they present and the traffic they support. In addition, neighborhood demands have been taken into account.

In some areas, anti-slip bands and speed bumps will be installed

The Victorian Government points out that “all the roads have different levels of deterioration, in many cases due to the action of rainwater and channeling problems. This generates the cracking of the tread layer, which entails risks for driving, especially when in many roads no action has been taken for many years». For the mayor, “we must take into account the orography of our municipality, where more than 90% of the streets are sloped, so it is necessary to provide safety for drivers and pedestrians.” The works will consist of the resurfacing of the roads, after cleaning up the roads. In addition, in some areas it is planned to install anti-slip strips and speed bumps.
