Approved the channeling project for the El Cercado ravine

The City Council of the capital, through the Governing Board, has approved the channeling project for the El Cercado ravinelocated in the Anaga District, with which a response will be given to a historic demand from the residents of the El Regente area, who have been demanding for a long time that the risk of overflow when it rains ends.

He mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerifethe nationalist J.Osé Manuel Bermudezpoints out that the execution of these expected works will suppose a investment of 1.6 million euros and must be executed within a period of twelve months.

The councilor assures that the Chicharrero Consistory has been working on this project “for quite some time” and points out that it was January of this year when, “we finally received authorization from the Insular Water Council to carry out the canalization works.”

The mayor explains that this action will ensure that “the overflow of the El Cercado ravine will not occur again in times of heavy rain, as we committed to the residents of El Regente.”

For his part, the councilor responsible for the Public Services area, Carlos Tarifeof the PPstates that “this is great news for the residents of this area of ​​the city, since this work will put an end to the existing risk of overflow.”

The mayor takes the opportunity to comment that the Governing Board of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been able to approve this project after the Cabildo sent the corresponding report and the authorization to carry out the works in January.

Carlos Tarife announces that The intention of the City Council is to tender the execution of the works in the month of April. “And if everything goes according to schedule, Work could start in June»adds the mayor.

The person in charge of the Public Services area comments that the objective of this long-awaited action is “to put an end to the flooding of the ravine when there is heavy rain, so that the residents of the area, and all those who pass by, can be calm.”
