SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the area of Social Action, Citizen Participation and Diversity, and the Federation of Platform of Volunteer Entities of the Canary Islands (FPVCanarias) have signed a collaboration agreement to promote free training for people and staff of the entities and continue promoting volunteer work on the island.

Together with the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, the event was attended by the third vice president and Minister of Social Action, Marián Franquet, and the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta.

Among the agreements set out in the agreement, the Federation will give eight free training courses, from March to November, aimed at volunteers and voluntary organizations. The collaboration also includes the development of joint activities with the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, dependent on Sinpromi, to raise awareness, encourage and promote volunteer work to encourage citizen participation in solidarity actions of volunteer entities on the Island.

Pedro Martín highlighted the investment effort made by the Cabildo to help entities maintain their activity and improve their care services and stressed that through this agreement with the Federation “one more step is taken in a clear commitment to promoting education and training in the field of volunteering”.

The island president expressed his gratitude to the people and voluntary entities “for the priceless work they carry out in Tenerife, which has become visible and reflected especially during the pandemic, thanks to whose dedication and vocation of service it was possible to reach thousands of vulnerable individuals and families.

The third vice president and counselor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, also highlighted the importance of recognizing the skills that volunteers acquire in the exercise of their work, as well as in the training they receive. “The planned training is practical and basic to help improve the quality of the voluntary actions and services carried out through the entities,” she said.

For Marián Franquet, “entities are the ones that are in direct contact with people and families, they know the situation they are going through and the reality in the different territories and localities, without them we would not be able to reach the people who need it most “. “A task in which good coordination and networking are crucial in order to reach the maximum number of people and families possible, as was demonstrated during the pandemic,” emphasized the island manager, for whom this agreement will contribute to continue promoting the associative fabric on the Island.

The president of the FPVCanarias, Ester Asensio, expressed her gratitude to the Cabildo de Tenerife, since “without their support it would be difficult to maintain this activity.” Ella Asensio pointed out that the number of people interested in volunteering has grown and “it is important that they receive the appropriate information, advice and training”. “Through these courses, it helps to make visible to the labor market that voluntary practice promotes learning and the development of skills,” she added.

The courses will have the Certifica+ quality seal from the Spanish Volunteering Platform and the Canary Islands Federation of Entities Platform, to certify the acquisition of transversal skills in volunteering.

In addition, the celebration of the II Conference on Volunteering and Competence Accreditation has been announced for May: Vol + and Certifica+, to publicize the certification of competences. Within the framework of this agreement, the FPVCanarias will also make the Voluncloud tool available to entities registered with the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, a means to search for and disseminate volunteer opportunities.
