SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the delegated area of ​​Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, will coordinate with the town halls of the Island a protocol of sexual harassment for the nightlife areas existing in the municipalities, as well as parties, concerts or festivals .

Following the celebration of the Insular Gender Equality Roundtable, the CEO, Priscila de León, explained that a working group has been formed to begin drawing up a joint and consensual sexual harassment protocol that determines the necessary measures to prevent and act in situations of sexual harassment or assault.

This group will be made up of the Cabildo de Tenerife, together with the municipalities of Puerto de la Cruz, El Rosario, Adeje, Los Silos and Icod de los Vinos, who volunteered. “Once prepared, the objective is for all the island’s municipalities to join in order to unify criteria and work in a coordinated and effective manner,” added the island official.

Priscila de León also reported that four working groups will be held next March to present the results of the diagnosis of the Strategic Plan for the Prevention of Gender Violence in preadolescents, adolescents and young people from 11 to 20 years of age to the municipalities, Government of Canary Islands, associations and public and private entities. In the same way, some proposals for action will be presented and the contributions of the participating organizations and entities will be collected.

During the meeting, the CEO announced that more than 750 young people are participating in the Enrédate sin machismo program in different institutes on the island, a socio-educational intervention project that aims to prevent sexist violence among the young population, especially in couple relationships. heterosexual teens.

He also detailed the different activities that the Cabildo will carry out throughout this year. The workshops for women over 18 years of age and the GAIA project stand out, with which it is intended to attend to the specific needs and problems of older women on the island, such as loneliness, low self-esteem, health, sexuality or prevention of gender violence.

The city councils also exposed the activities that they are developing in their municipalities in terms of equality, where the extensive programming of La Matanza de Acentejo around 8M, International Women’s Day, stands out.

The Equality Roundtable was attended by technical staff, councilors for Equality from the municipalities of Adeje, Arafo, Buenavista del Norte, Candelaria, El Rosario, El Tanque, Fasnia, Granadilla de Abona, Güímar, Icod de los Vinos, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Orotava, Los Silos, Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Úrsula.
