Hemodonación intensifies its blood donation campaigns during the carnival

He Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandscontinues touring the Canary Islands to make blood donation accessible and will intensify blood donation campaigns during the carnival.

The ICHH recalls the importance of donating blood to maintain the stock of blood products before the carnival bridge, a period in which, traditionally, there is a drop in extractions.

For this, extraordinary outings have been scheduled during this weekend both in Gran Canaria like in Tenerife.

Weekend departures

Tomorrow, Saturday February 18, it will be possible to donate blood in Gran Canaria, at the II Fair in Pro of Childhood Cancer Research, which will have a mobile unit in front of the Military Palace of the palms in San Telmo Park. The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

In Tenerife, also tomorrow Saturday, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla, will remain open from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Finally, you can donate in San Cristobal from La Laguna, in the Plaza de la Catedral, on Calle Obispo Rey Redondo, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Where to donate in Gran Canaria

In The Gran Canarian palms, the ICHH continues its campaign in the central and popular street of Triana nº 70-72 (next to Guirlache). The schedule on Monday, February 20, will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the rest of the days will not holidays The donor population will be attended from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

From February 20 to 24, there will be an extraction campaign in hall 7 of Infecar, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A temporary donation point that will be installed from Monday to Friday, with the exception of Shrove Tuesday, in the Sala roque nubloavenue of the fair, nº 1. The hours from Monday to Friday will be from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Monday 20, the activity of this extraction point will begin at 9:15 a.m. and on Friday, February 24, the closure will be at 8:30 p.m.

Also from Monday to Friday, with the exception of Shrove Tuesday, a mobile unit will travel to Moya, settling next to the Town Hall. The hours will be from 9:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 4:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. On Monday 20 the activity will begin at 9:45 and on Friday the closing will be at 20:15.

Likewise, the fixed donation point of the Alcampo Shopping Center, together with the Lottery Administration, will be operational on February 22, 23 and 24. On Wednesday 22 the hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Regarding the fixed blood collection points, the ICHH makes its headquarters available to the population at number 4, Alfonso XIII street, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m.: 3 to 9:15 p.m., except holidays (it has a ford for donors).

The fixed point of Santa Lucia de Tirajanalocated in the annex of the Health Center of Neighborhoodin Calle Guatiza, s/n, will remain open to the public from Monday to Wednesday from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (except holidays).

You can also go to other fixed points of the Canary Islands Transfusion Network (without an appointment) such as the Maternal-Infant University Hospital of Canary Islands Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria where you can donate from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. 00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., except holidays (it has a ford for donors in both cases).

Finally, at the Hospiten Roca San Agustín you can donate by phone by appointment by calling 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (except holidays).

Where to donate in Tenerife

Throughout the next week you can go to donate at the fixed point located in the Multicentro Comercial El Trompo de La Orotava (sector 10, Las Arenas, exit 36 ​​of the TF-5, next to China Town). On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday the attention to the public will be from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday, February 24, the hours will be from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Also next week, a mobile unit will be installed in Plaza del Pescador, nº1, in Los Cristianos, in front of the Cultural Center, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. With the exception of the entrance on Monday, which will be at 9:45 a.m., and the exit on Friday the 24th, which will be at 7:45 p.m.

Finally, from Monday to Friday, except for Shrove Tuesday, there will be a campaign in Tacoronte. The mobile unit will be located on the general highway of the north, at number 85 (next to the TGAS gas station). The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

As for the fixed points, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate at the ICHH headquarters at 14 Méndez Núñez street, corner of Pí Margall, from Monday to Wednesday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. 3 to 9:15 p.m. (it has a ford for donors).

Extractions will also be carried out at the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, at 2 Arguayoda Street, from Monday to Wednesday from 1:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. . This point has a parking space reserved for donors and telephone service is made through the number 677980518, except holidays.

With regard to the fixed points of the Canary Transfusion Network, at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias you can donate (without an appointment) from Sunday to Friday and holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., except holidays.

In addition, you can also donate at Hospiten Bellevue, at Calle Alemania 6 in Puerto de la Cruz, by making an appointment by calling 922 385 235 (option 1), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except holidays). In addition, from Wednesday 22 to March 17 a donation campaign will be launched in Tuineje. The extraction point will be installed on Atis Tirma street, next to Tran Tran square, in great tarajal. The hours from Monday to Thursday will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

You can also donate at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, where the fixed blood donation point of the Canary Transfusion Network is located on the island. This point will also be operational from Tuesday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To donate, it is convenient to make an appointment at 928 546 684. Except holidays.

On February 23 and 24 you can donate blood in Would do. This campaign will continue until February 28 and the donation point will be located at the La Tegala Cultural Center, in Plaza León y Castillo, nº 16. The hours on the 23rd will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The fixed blood donation point of the Canary Islands Transfusion Network will also be operational at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital. The Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de los Reyes has a fixed extraction point where you can donate on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except holidays), by appointment by calling 690 886 059 or 922 553 500 .

The General University Hospital of La Palma, on Calle Buenavista de Arriba s/n, in Breña Alta, has a fixed extraction point where you can donate by appointment from Monday to Sunday and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. :00 hours. To request an appointment by phone 922 185 312/922 185 320.

The Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe has an extraction point where you can donate blood from Monday to Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ( except holidays). It is necessary to make an appointment by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213.

Requirements to donate

To donate blood you can go directly or you can request an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effectodonacion.com.

The ICHH also recalls that people vaccinated against the covid-19both with one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood 48 hours after inoculation.
