The group of decorated floats and cars of the Santa Cruz Carnival expressed their surprise yesterday at the possibility that Fiestas, as announced by DIARIO DE AVISOS, may prohibit their participation in the announcing Parade this Friday for security reasons. Yesterday, until late at night, they held a meeting at Fiestas, a meeting requested by the group after finding out what Fiestas was considering through DIARIO DE AVISOS.

After almost three hours of meeting, as confirmed by the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, a consensus was reached to raise the possibility that decorated floats and cars leave the first in the Parade, advancing the traditional time of the parade, “To later be located in the lower area of Santa Cruz as is traditional.”

However, this consensus must be ratified today in the meeting that will be held with Civil Protection and Local Police, responsible for the security of the Carnival, a meeting in which the final route will also be closed.

Yesterday, some members of this group, such as the well-known Los Nietos de Nena float, showed this newspaper their surprise at the real possibility of not going out in the Parade, since, they assured, “they have not directly communicated anything to us. There is a group of various bodybuilders where they have told us that today (yesterday) there was a meeting at the Town Hall to clarify this issue”.

According to these bodybuilders, “in principle what was agreed was that we would start the first in the Parade and instead of doing the entire circuit we would only do half of it. It is a decision that affects all the floats and all the decorated cars equally, but the truth is that we have not received any information directly from our float”.

They confess that the first news they had of this approach was through DIARIO DE AVISOS, and, “following that, they asked in a WhatsApp group that all bodybuilders have if this news was true and from there they began to work to seek a meeting with the City Council to clarify this issue”.

Nena’s grandchildren do not hide their discomfort at this decision: “For us. that we always fight to get a prize. It is disappointing that the general public cannot enjoy the float with the time it has taken us (five months) and the money, more than 3,000 euros. The economic prize we receive is very little, but the applause of the people is what fills us up”.

These participants recorded a video of the making of the float and uploaded it to their social networks: “What we were looking for with the video is to give visibility to the floats, that we do not even appear on the Carnival poster, and to top it off Three days after our contest we receive this news…”.

Regarding whether they agree with this possible solution of leaving at the beginning of the route, they admit that “we do not fully agree, since we consider that if we leave first there will not be many people and we want our work to be seen, and doing half the route seems little to us since we don’t see the point because we could do the entire route without problems. But for the sake of reaching an agreement, if we at least do that we settle. After all, that is our contest.”

Parties

The Autonomous Organization of Festivals and Recreational Activities (Oafar) raised the impossibility of private decorated floats and cars participating in the Parade announcing the Santa Cruz Carnival next Friday. The main reason for making this decision, as DIARIO DE AVISOS learned, was for safety, which is why it has been proposed that these vehicles leave at the beginning of the route.

And it is that, after what happened in the Parade of 2020, when the delay of the parade caused a situation of insecurity as the public mixed with the end of the Parade in which the floats were, specifically in the Orche area.
