Arona and CEST request priority for the stretch from Guaza to Los Cristianos

The Government of Arona and the Circle of Entrepreneurs and Professionals of the South of Tenerife (CEST) demand that the expansion of the southern highway (TF-1) give priority to the stretch between Guaza and Los Cristianos, in the Aronero municipality. This they pointed out the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, and the president of CEST, Roberto Ucelay, after a meeting held at the southern City Hall. They also consider it essential to improve access to Guaza and Los Cristianos from the motorway, as well as direct access to Hospital del Sur from the TF-1. Likewise, other issues were discussed such as housing and training and employment.

In terms of infrastructure, both the Aronero government group and the CEST agreed on the need to prioritize these three axes as an important part of the solution to the motorway’s mobility problems. They also pointed out the requirement to incorporate a reversible lane into the TF-1 expansion project. In the case of the Hospital del Sur, the direct lane would prevent delays from forming at the entrance and exit, in addition to facilitating emergencies and guaranteeing traffic even such an important infrastructure for the region.

The burying of Avenida Chayofita, to facilitate more directly the traffic of the Port of Los Cristianos with the highway, as well as the future Transport Interchange are two of the mayor’s proposals that the CEST believes are necessary for the modernization and future of the municipality.

Other issues discussed at the meeting were the need to continue investing in employment and training policies and public housing, in which the government group has taken “important steps during this term”, as the mayor himself pointed out, such as the agreement to the transfer of a plot in La Estrella with the Canary Islands Housing Institute, for the construction of public housing on a rental basis.
