SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Citizen Participation and Diversity area, has started a sexual health prevention and care campaign to raise awareness among citizens, especially youth, about sexually transmitted infections during the celebration of the holidays Of the carnival.
Nauzet Gugliotta pointed out that “the objective is to raise awareness about the importance of self-care and also taking care of others to avoid risky behaviors that can lead to sexually transmitted infections.”
The action will be disseminated through various channels: billboards, billboards and screens, among other supports located in public transport interchanges, bus and tram stops and also includes social networks, details the Cabildo in a note.
This was highlighted by the CEO at the campaign presentation at the Padre Anchieta interchange tram stop in La Laguna, one of the busiest areas of people using public transport in the metropolitan area.
The event was also attended by the president of the LGBTI* Diversas Canarias association, Fran Baute, along with the entity’s doctor, Anthony Carballo, and Adjomar González, the campaign’s graphic designer.
Nauzet Gugliotta indicated that “it is very important that the population understand what STIs are, prevent their transmission and have routine check-ups to take care of their health, not only in carnivals but throughout the year, these infections do not understand the sexual orientations of hence the campaign is focused on the entire population”.
Through messages such as ‘These carnivals, vacilón and prevention’, ‘Without prevention splash pa’l mogollón’ or ‘Clearly review after the party’, the campaign designer, Adjomar González, explained that “in its design they have taken takes into account many characteristic elements of the island so that it is easily recognizable, it also combines humor and color, typical of carnival, to merge the message of prevention with a fun touch”.
The president of LGBTI* Diversas, Fran Baute, for his part, stressed “that this action is tangible proof of the good collaboration between the Cabildo de Tenerife and the groups.”
“We want to spread the message that we can and should always have fun while taking care into account. A casual, fun and dynamic campaign, but with an emphasis on the need to prevent,” he said.
Gugliotta added that developing this type of campaign is “fundamental” to continue raising awareness among the population about the importance of prevention, a task in which they have been working throughout the year, together with entities and groups, to promote and disseminate information through different actions.
