He adds that “this number of downloads shows the need that existed for having an aid of these characteristics, which facilitates visits to the natural environment both for sporadic visitors and other more specialized ones such as mountaineers or runners”.

The counselor appreciates a “highly participated” initiative in which “we have been working for two years with the consensus of cyclists, hikers, mountaineers, fans of 4×4 vehicles, active tourism companies or other groups.” He values the fact that the itineraries of the app include the Titsa bus lines that connect with them an anteroom, explains towards a more sustainable mobility in Tenerife, one of the problems of the Island”. García concluded: “These are aspects that have contributed to generating so much unprecedented interest among citizens.”

Tenerife ON It is an intuitive platform, navigable and adapted to all people. Its app is available on the App Store, Google Play, and its online portal is accessible through the official website tenerifeon.es. It is also “customizable and secure.” Lists all maintained trails, horse trails, 4×4 and bike trails on the island. Its itinerary planner allows users to customize their tours based on distance or location on a map. Likewise, it allows you to download the routes to review them without coverage. Another of its great advantages is its alert system, which indicates possible incidents on each route, making outdoor leisure a safer activity. It is also a “sensitizing tool” with natural spaces. In turn, it collects all the available equipment, such as camping areas, visitor centers, recreational areas or camps; as well as all the relevant information on the 43 Protected Natural Areas of the Island. This, added to the advice and recommendations section, make Tenerife ON an educational platform, which aims to raise awareness among the population about environmental care and the responsible use of the spaces.
