Maritime Rescue has rescued last night the 23 sub-Saharan occupants –18 men and 5 women– of an inflatable boat in waters south of La Gomerapeople who upon their arrival on land would have indicated to the emergency resources that six other people were traveling with them.
The events took place around 8:46 p.m. when the 112 Canary Islands notified the Rescue Center in Tenerife that he had received a call from a boat and that the signal had entered through the south of La Gomera.
As reported to Europa Press by the state body, the Helimer 201 and the Salvamar Alborán helicopter were then mobilized.
Subsequently, at 10:37 p.m., the 112 Canarias spoke again with the boat, whose occupants indicated that they had seen one of the Helimer’s passes, which located the vessel.
The Salvamar went to the area, which intercepted the boat after 12:10 a.m. and rescued its 23 occupants to head to the Los Cristianos Pier (Tenerife), where they arrived at around 2:10 a.m.
Already on land, Red Cross and Canary Emergency Service (SUC) have indicated that the sanitary device treated the occupants, all of whom were in apparent good health, although one of them had to be transferred to a hospital due to mild dehydration.
Finally, apparently, once they arrived at the pier, some of the occupants of the boat would have assured that six other people were traveling with them.
