Ports of Tenerife has reported this Wednesday to its Board of Directors of the water and land surfaces that will shortly become the responsibility of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hallin compliance with what was agreed in the Agreement to that effect signed between both administrations, and which will add almost 24,000 square meters for the Valleseco beach.

And it is that, as indicated by the president of Puertos de Tenerife, Carlos González, “once our part has concluded the works in said enclave, the management of services in the area will correspond, starting with the declaration as a zone of bathroom by the City Council who will also be in charge of opening it for public use”.

Specifically, it will be a water surface of 13,522 square meters to be marked out and a total land space of 10,423 square meters, between El Bloque and Acapulco, which the Ports of Tenerife will make available to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council so that the corporation can assume the tasks and services that correspond to it from now on in said enclave, always based on the signed agreement.

The Board of Directors also reported favorably on the modification of the delimitation of port spaces and uses of the port of Granadilla, by which the water and land spaces located in front of the Granadilla Thermal Power Plant are incorporated into the management of the Tenerife Port Authority , for now managed by the General Directorate of Coasts, as well as all the concessions present in this area, reports the entity in a note.

The incorporation of these lands and sheet of water will enable the connection of the port with its northern service area, currently subject to expropriation process derived from the declaration of public utility of said area.

Also for the port of Granadilla, the highest representative body approved the expansion by 5,104 square meters of the area granted in concession to Petrocan, an increase linked to the route of the pipes projected in said port.

In this way, the concession area granted to said entity in November 2020 increases by 4.23%, from the 120,632 square meters initially granted to 125,736.

This last concession was granted in November 2020 for the occupation of an area of 120,632 square meters in the port of Granadilla, an area intended for the installation of a factory for the storage and supply of aviation fuel, bunker activity and strategic reserves, which could enable the transfer of the Cepsa facilities at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife refinery.

The project already has the corresponding Environmental Impact Statement issued by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands.
