Eleven Canarian wineries show the quality of their wines at Barcelona Wine Week

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 7 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Eleven wineries from the Canary Islands exhibit the quality of the wines of the Archipelago in the third edition of the Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) wine show, which is held until tomorrow Wednesday in Montjuïc, in the Ciudad Condal, and which represents an opportunity for companies Canary Islands establish commercial contacts directly with importers, distributors or wholesalers.

The Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Canary Islands Government, has facilitated the presence of the wineries represented at the Canary Islands stand, from organization and coordination, to registration, design and assembly of the infrastructure, in addition to assuming all the cost derived from the presence of the wineries at the fair. Participation in this show is part of the strategy of the Ministry of impulse and promotion of the wines of the archipelago to improve its position in the market.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alicia Vanoostende, who visited the Canary Islands stand on Tuesday together with the director of the ICCA, Basilio Pérez, has valued “the importance of publicizing the potential of Canarian wines, for its quality, uniqueness and variety, with unique characteristics in the world that differentiate us and recognize us beyond the island market”.

In this sense, he indicated that from the regional government “we go hand in hand with the wineries to promote their products, support them and enable their presence in high-profile showcases such as Barcelona Wine Week, because the wine sector is strategic in the economy of the islands”.

PARTICIPATING WINERIES

Participating in the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Lanzarote are Bodegas El Grifo SA; Bodegas Los Bermejos; Vulcano Winery of Lanzarote; and La Geria Winery. Bodegas El Lomo (Tenerife) and Bodega Linaje del Pago (Tenerife) attended from the Canary Islands DOP, while from the Valle de La Orotava PDO, Bodegas Atlante. Bodega Los Loros participates in the PDO Valle de Güímar, and Bodega Loher participates in the PDO Tacoronte-Acentejo; Bettina Charlotte Burgmann (Winery Burgmann Tenerife) and Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife.

The show is attended by more than 20,000 international professionals from 79 different countries considered strategic by the sector, including the United States, Germany, China, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Colombia and the Netherlands, among others. The BWW will bring together more than 700 wineries in a program with fifty presentations, round tables and guided tastings by nearly 90 experts, sommeliers and winemakers.
