SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 7 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cepsa Foundation held the 2022 Social Value Awards ceremony today in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which on this occasion went to the Adepsi Association, the Association for the Study of Spinal Cord Injury (Aesleme), AFES Salud Mental Health, the Canarian Association for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Apanate), the Federation of Deaf Associations of the Canary Islands (Fasican) and the Gull Lasègue Association for the Study and Treatment of Anorexia and Bulimia in the Canary Islands (GullONG ). They are joined by the Pichón Trail Project Association, which won one of the Special Cepsa Employee Awards.

The event was attended by the Common Council Member and president of the jury, Rafael Yanes, and the head of Fundación Cepsa in the Islands, Belén Machado, who were accompanied by a broad representation of the rest of the jury: the Minister of Social Care from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Isabel Mena; the Councilor for Social Action of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Rosario González; the head of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, Beatriz Sicilia, and Natalia Domínguez, representing Cepsa professionals.

This year, the jury has focused the awards on addressing autism, sclerosis, hearing impairment, eating disorders, disability caused by spinal cord injuries and mental health problems.

In addition, in this edition, Cepsa professionals from those areas where its Foundation is established (Canary Islands, Madrid, Huelva province, Campo de Gibraltar, Portugal and Colombia) have once again highlighted, for the second consecutive year, a Canarian entity, in In this case, the Pigeon Trail Project Association, with a Special Employee Award. With this, the economic contribution of the last edition of these Awards has added 79,000 euros in the Archipelago, a figure very similar to that granted in the previous edition, in which the circumstance also occurred that one of these special awards went to the Islands.

Thanks to this endowment, nearly 9,500 people will see their quality of life improved through the seven distinguished projects, which will be carried out throughout this year, and which will be visited by representatives of Fundación Cepsa and by the godparents themselves. , who become a link with the entities.

During the event, Belén Machado valued this call for awards, as “one of our most outstanding social actions at Fundación Cepsa, the one that gives us the most satisfaction without a doubt, and which we celebrate with great enthusiasm every year at events like this one that brings us together today to celebrate solidarity and reward those who most deserve it: the social entities that are so committed to making our society a slightly more egalitarian and inclusive place”, he stated during his speech.

He remarked that “what is truly noteworthy about these awards, beyond the economic contribution that allows the projects of the winning entities to be launched or maintained, is the link established between Cepsa professionals and the NGOs, when the former act by sponsoring the projects presented, as an essential condition to be eligible for an award”.

For his part, Rafael Yanes highlighted the work of Fundación Cepsa through these “awards that have been maintained over time for many years, giving support to so many associations that have in turn provided so much help to people at risk of vulnerability, betting on , thus for social justice and recognizing in the Canary Islands the immense work that the third sector does,” he emphasized.

“Without the role played by social entities, the welfare state would not exist, since they go where public administrations cannot reach, striving every day to support the most vulnerable in our society,” he said.
