A group of 55 unemployed from the municipality develop Santiago del Teide with the employment, an extraordinary social employment program that includes four actions. They allocate this group to provide support to municipal public services, to carry out tasks of conditioning, maintenance and cleaning of the trail network and natural spaces of the municipality; cleaning and maintenance of green spaces and carrying out maintenance, conservation and accessibility works and tasks.
Registration, Sports, Tourism, in addition to Works, Parks and Gardens are the municipal areas to which 14 of the project’s beneficiaries provide support, which includes two developing support tasks for home help workers.
Another 14 workers carry out the work of conditioning, maintenance and cleaning of the trail network and the natural spaces of the municipality; eight are in charge of cleaning and maintaining green spaces and the remaining 19 are responsible for works and maintenance, conservation and accessibility tasks.
The Santiago del Teide with employment project is carried out over a year with a total cost of 511,367 euros, of which the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE) subsidizes 211,367 euros and the Santiago del Teide City Council contributes the remaining 300,000.
Bricklayers, construction and horticulture and gardening laborers, as well as agriculture; chainsaw operator, environmental educators, foreman, as well as administrative assistants, home help and customer service (with languages) are the specialties of the staff of this extraordinary social employment program.
Focused on developing and improving the employability of job seekers in Santiago del Teide, the project meets the objective of supporting unqualified personnel, at risk of social exclusion, families without income with minors, women, long-term unemployed, the elderly 45 years old and young people with difficulties for their labor insertion.
