The Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, has supported this Friday a financing model by objectives for the two public universities of the Canary Islands because “it is very useful” and implies “commitments from both sides”.
In statements to journalists after a visit to the University of La Laguna (ULL), he indicated that this Thursday he met in La Palma with the two rectors, Rosa Aguilar (ULL) and Lluís Serra (Ulpgc), and the general director of Universities , Manuel Ramírez, and verified the “will” of the regional Executive to work in this line.
Subirats has defended that apart from a “basic” financing to support the services provided by the universities, there must be an “additional” one linked to objectives “that are agreed upon” through which the universities commit to contributing “to the needs”. of the autonomous community on various fronts.
