La Orotava offers radio, hiking, art, photography and training for young people

The Youth House of the orotava turns 12 and in this 2023 it will offer a wide program of activities for young villeros which includes radio, hiking, art, photography, intergenerational meetings and training in fields as diverse as literature, robotics or sport. More than 14,000 people benefited in 2022 of the initiatives of the youth area of ​​the orotavense city hallwhich keeps next year’s agenda open to new contributions from the youth of the municipality.

For both, this municipal center has established itself as a benchmark for the group, with more than 2,800 frequent users and many more occasional visitors, “arriving from all the neighborhoods of the town,” according to the mayor.

2,800 frequent users

The Casa de la Juventud de La Orotava has registered some 2,800 frequent users, although during 2022 it organized activities that reached more than 14,000 people.

This space has become a meeting and study place for many young people, who come to obtain information, do group work or enjoy courses, exhibitions and services in high demand such as Radio Joven and the recording studio, where groups can record their own demos. For Linares, “the radio is a success, as shown by the fact that more than thirty programsin which it has also been possible to promote the exchange of experiences between different generations ».

dario afonso He stressed that the programming is designed each year “taking into account the demands and proposals of young people”, although there are also initiatives that are maintained over time due to their interest. Among the most outstanding activities, the ludic-didactic workshops in different fields, contests and meetings, activities in nature and in the open air, sports, exhibitions, generational exchanges, artistic projections, festivals and training in multiple disciplines, such as robotics, crafts or computing. Appointments fixed in the calendar appear as Young Art in the Street; Orotava Photography Festival; Youth by Neighborhoods; One path, one station; the Hyperbrief Story Contest; the Photographic Marathon; Art and literature; the Crearte Contest, and bookface.
