The American singer with Puerto Rican descent Elvis Crespo confirmed on Friday on his profiles on social networks that he would not perform on February 25 at the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. At the beginning of January, his participation in the great chicharrera party was taken for granted, but the Consistory has confirmed that it has not finally been possible to reach an agreement with the artist, who will be present at the Gáldar Carnival, in Gran Canary.
The City Council recalls that it had not announced the presence of Elvis Crespo at the Carnival, although it specifies that there was a pre-agreement with the singer’s representative and his agency in the Canary Islands, in which, provisionally, the 25th had been included as the date of his concert. Verbatim, the document indicates that the assignment of the representation of the artist is signed “for the corresponding performance at the carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on February 25, 2023.”
Said document, signed by both parties and held by the Autonomous Organization of Fiestas, was “the first step in a solid line of negotiation that, finally and for personal reasons of the artist, could not come to fruition”, informed the councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, who recognized that “the information had already transcended public opinion, but based on a solid pre-agreement document that could not be carried out, and for this reason.” In this line, he added that “there was an availability of the artist that finally could not be specified, so work is already being done to close other options that were being considered in parallel to Elvis Crespo.”
