The Tacoronte City Council has distributed 1.8 million euros in aid and subsidies to associations, NGOs, sports clubs or social, cultural or business entities of the municipalityin accordance with the strategic plan designed by the local government (New Canary Islands, PSOE And if you can). Part of this budget has gone to non-profit organizations in the social field, such as Cáritas, Sonrisas Canarias or the Red Cross. The mayor of Taco, José Daniel Díaz Armas (NC), highlights that these social entities received 90,000 euros, at a rate of 30,000 euros each, to facilitate direct assistance.
Among these 1.8 million euros there are some 500,000 for entities that “receive a municipal contribution for the first time”; 250,000 euros that have been allocated to the Parish of Santa Catalina, and another 280,000 euros to rescue the Ciudad Deportiva and “guarantee the viability of this administrative concession that provides a service to the public.” It is “an economic support that prevents the loss of a benefit from which more than 2,000 people benefit, avoiding what has happened in other municipalities, where they have proceeded to close due to the economic imbalances suffered by this type of concession” says the mayor.
The sports clubs have distributed an amount close to 300,000 euros, “whose main destination is aimed at consolidating the grassroots sport, so that all disciplines can cover the costs of hiring monitors and federation files.” The mayor added that “behind these aids there are many boys and girls who will be able to continue practicing their favorite sport, also making it easier to maintain the highest level of sport and the implementation of teams and disciplines.”
Díaz Armas explained that the amount for the assistance of abandoned animals “has improved considerably, making possible, through the Tacoronte Animal Welfare Platform, the assistance and control of cat colonies with a very successful campaign that has allowed more of 300 copies. A work that we will be able to continue with this new contribution of 15,000 euros, thus reinforcing an action that the protectors themselves have highlighted for their positive results.
The Tacoronte Strategic Subsidy Plan also allocates 80,000 euros for a local campaign of consumer bonds; 120,000 euros for the Santa Cecilia Musical Group, or 400,000 euros for the Quesada Sánchez Family Foundation, which cares for the elderly in the municipality.
