Carnival
The Fairground continues to host this weekend events of the Program of Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2023. Tenerife Opera
The Tenerife Auditorium schedule the opera this weekend The old maid and the thief (The old maiden and the thief), which can be seen for the first time in Spain in Tenerife Opera a year ago. The last performances of this production will take place in the Sala de Cámara on January 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets have a general price of 20 euros, with discounts for different groups. In fact, those under 30 pay only 5 euros.
This comedy of tangles by Gian Carlo Menotti was one of the first operas created to be broadcast on the radio. A commission from the North American station NBC, which premiered on its airwaves in April 1939 with a success that later took it to the stage. Is staged chamber opera shows the ins and outs of a radio studio from the 40s to relive the live performance of its first broadcast. But it also introduces the audience to the world that Menotti wrote, full of moral dilemmas and lots of fun, with four main characters and crazy stories.
Florida parties
The popular neighborhood of La Florida, in La Orotava, celebrates this weekend its festivities in honor of San Antonio Abad and the Virgin of La Esperanza. These will be the first celebrations back to normality after the pandemic. In addition to the religious and popular acts of these festivities, each year there is a gastronomic event that attracts more and more attendees: the making of the Canarian stew. Eighth Livestock of La Matanza
The municipality of The slaughter celebrates this Sunday, January 29, the big day of the Eighth Ganadera. An act that will begin first thing in the morning with the pilgrimage of the faithful to the hermitage of San Antonio Abad. In the afternoon there will be a religious function, a parade and blessing of cattle, and the delivery of aid and prizes to the farmers.

The journalist and writer Maruja Torres will be recognized this Saturday, January 28, with the Mirada Encendida award at the MiradasDoc Festival. With this award, the festival wants to distinguish a career marked by the political and social commitment developed during his time as a war correspondent. Also, will be screened in the Auditorium of Isora Guideat 12.30 pm, the film kyiv Trial (The kyiv Trial ), in which the first trials of the Soviet Union against the Nazis are narrated, in 1946.
