Rosa Dávila pleads to recover the agreement to regenerate the tourist spaces in the south of Tenerife

The south of Tenerife suffers paralysis, its port and airport require a boost and in the tourist area a renovation is urgent. The Canary Islands Coalition (CC) understands it this way and transmits it through its candidate the Presidency of the Cabildo, Rosa Davila. It points to the PSOE as responsible for such a situation, because “in these four years it has not led the projects that the south of the Island needs.”

Dávila advocates recovering the agreement for the regeneration of tourist spacessource of employment generation and wealth in Tenerife. He did so after a meeting with directors of the business association of the region, the Círculo de Empresarios y Profesionales del Sur de Tenerife, chaired by Roberto Ucelay, which was also attended by the head of the CC list in Parliament for Tenerife, Ana Oramas.

“From the CEST we have been informed of the abandonment of certain tourist areas of Arona and adeje and it is necessary to invest from the Cabildo to offer a quality destination. The investment will not only improve those spaces, but it will generate economic activity and employment”, says Dávila.

Echoing what was proposed by the CEST, he assesses how to “promote infrastructures in the South, especially the ports and the airport and those related to mobility”. In this framework, he criticizes the lack of leadership of the PSOE and Pedro Martín to require that the works of the new terminal of Tenerife South Airport included in this Airport Regulation Document (DORA) 2022-2026.

“It is necessary to promote infrastructure in the South, especially ports and the airport and those related to mobility”

Rosa Dávila – CC candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo

“The Cabildo has to lead and promote large projects. And an example is the claim on the southern airport. We wanted the new terminal to be built now and not have to wait until 2027 for the works to start. There the PSOE put itself in profile and has not demanded what by right corresponds to Tenerife. We need a new terminal now and the reality is that the works will not start, hopefully, until 2027, ”he defends.

Ana Oramas shares the CEST’s concern about the Housing Law that the PSOE intends to approve, in which the squatters benefit from the property owners, says CC. He thanked the congratulations for having achieved the implementation of free public transport throughout the Canary Islands “which especially benefits thousands of workers in the south of Tenerife”, he says.

we have to move on

The president of the Círculo de Empresarios y Profesionales del Sur de Tenerife defends that “tourism is the main engine of the region”. we must take care of our visitors and the people who live and work in the South, who need housing to be able to work in the area”. In this sense, Ucelay stresses the need to provide sufficient legal security to attract investment to the Island and the region. “Advancing in quality does not only mean improving our services, which is a fundamental aspect that we claim, but it is also important to promote new projects that generate an attractive offer, that attract high-level tourists who spend more in Tenerife”, concludes.

Roberto Ucelay, president of the CEST, explains that, for the association, it is necessary for the people who are involved in the political life of the Island to know first-hand the problems that the South is experiencing, both from the point of view of the business community and from the social perspective.

“Today we have been able to convey to you our main concerns and demands, with fundamental issues for the present and future of the tourism sector in the South, such as the renovation of tourist areas or the promotion of infrastructures roads, airports and ports, which are key factors in the image we give to the tourists who visit us”, he comments.

where to reside

The lack of accessible housing, which allows workers to live in the south and occupy jobs that, today, are not covered; or mobility are important issues for the society of the region. “It is essential that solutions be given to the collapse of the highway (TF-1) in the section between Los Cristianos and Guaza, with the implementation of a third lane of the road in this area,” he vindicates again.

“Tourism is the main engine of the south of TenerifeWe need this sector to continue advancing, growing; we must take care of our visitors and those who live and work in the South, who need housing to work in the region”, assures the president of the businessmen. In this sense, Ucelay claims the need to provide sufficient legal security to attract investment to the Island and the region. “Advancing in quality does not only mean improving our services, which is a fundamental aspect that we claim, but it is also important to promote new projects that generate an attractive offer, that attract high-level tourists who spend more in Tenerife”, added.
