The La Laguna City Council has started a series of improvement works in the municipal road network of the Taco neighborhood, with an investment close to 500,000 euros. The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, yesterday visited several of these actions that are undertaken from the Works and Infrastructure Area, where he was able to check the progress of the work and hold a meeting with neighborhood representatives.
Specifically, works are being carried out on San Gaspar and Padre Manjón streets, as well as the refurbishment of the Islas Canarias square. In addition, preliminary work is being carried out on San Patricio and Santo Ángel de la Guarda streets, in order to proceed with their paving in the coming weeks, together with San Olegario street.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez affirmed that “Taco is one of the most populous areas of our municipality, and with these investments the government group meets a large part of the demands that the residents have been demanding for years in terms of improving infrastructure in general and the network road in particular”.
Likewise, the mayor pointed out that, in addition to the actions on roads, the City Council undertakes in this same area the improvement of the Plaza Islas Canarias, with the renovation of urban furniture, painting and masonry work and improvement of accessibility.
Among the works on the road network in this neighbourhood, an exceptional case is San Gaspar street, in San Matías, since it is a public dirt road and, in addition to being paved, it will be equipped with sidewalks, side walls, It will improve the supply network, underground telephone and lighting systems, rainwater collection, road signs and safety railings will be installed, for 180,830 euros.
On the other hand, the adaptation of Padre Manjón street, for 155,986 euros, aims to solve the road safety problems it has, creating the expansion on the sidewalk bordering the educational areas, improving access to pedestrian crossings, adapting them to the accessibility regulations, and widening the crossings to give them even more visibility.
Regarding the rehabilitation of the pavement in the streets of San Patricio, Santo Ángel de la Guarda and San Olegario, it has a budget of 145,165 euros and the Citizen Security Area has raised a consultation with residents to establish a new direction of circulation.
