The Cabildo and the Canarian Government will contribute 400,000 euros each, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council will offer 200,000 euros and the rest of the investment has to be assumed by the aforementioned cultural entity. According to Martín, the directors of the Círculo face an “arduous” job, but also “exciting”, with “different perspectives from those they had years ago, when discouragement was rampant.”
The island president also emphasizes that the comprehensive rehabilitation of the building was necessary, given that there was a risk of “an irreparable loss.” The insular director of Culture, Alejandro Krawietz, trusts that the Círculo de Bellas Artes can regain “the vigor and capacity to contribute to the dialogue of culture” that it has had throughout its history. The president of the entity, Alejandro Tosco, welcomed the agreement and thanked the Cabildo for “their collaboration and understanding”, since the institution has been closed for three years.
Tosco also announced that the objective is to be able to start the works in November or mid-December “to try to finish them after the summer of 2022”.
