“The new sports complex of the Santa Cruz pavilion -advanced the mayor- represents a leap in quality in the city’s sports offer and is a historic opportunity to have a first-class facility in the city” and argues that “it is about of the construction of the most representative sports complex in the city, since the new sports pavilion will retain the name of Paco Alvarez and they will multiply their capacity tenfold, going from a thousand people to more than 10,000 citizens who will be able to enjoy these facilities”.

Dámaso Arteaga, Councilor for Works and Infrastructures, clarifies that “the construction of the new sports space will promote the completion of the block in which it is located and will allow the creation of more than 200 parking spaces, available to users, in addition to numerous jobs in its future management” and specifies that “the pool that includes the complex will have three basins, one 25 meters long, another for splashing and one more for jets, it will also have a 1,700 m 2 weights room, areas multipurpose, a playroom for the little ones and a cafeteria”.

The Councilor for Sports, Alicia Cebrián, anticipates that “the city will be provided with a large, top-level sports area, in which federated and amateur sports, families, enjoy in unison facilities that multiply by 10 the current capacity ” and assesses that “now, 80% of people who practice sports are not federated, and they do it as a hobby. This project is aimed at them and their families, but also at the remaining 20% who do it in a federated, individual way or belonging to a club in the capital, who are going to have decent and modern facilities”.

For his part, Alfonso Arroyo, attached to the Go Fit Presidency, wanted to emphasize “thank you, first for accepting us as another part of the city’s sports system, because this is a public investment that the City Council has known attract Santa Cruz, in exchange for his management with conditions defined by himself” and also “for the intense work with the municipal technicians, to shorten the start times of the works” and concluded by thanking again “the opportunity to contribute to make the people of this city happier, which is what really moves us and matters to us in this company”.

“Paco Álvarez” sports pavilion This is a facility directly managed by the City Council and differentiated from the concession area, without interference with the sports center. Access is through Eduardo Zamacois street. The stands located on the top floor have a capacity for 278 spectators, 6 of them adapted for the disabled, with toilets for spectators and equipped with a lift.

In addition, a telescopic grandstand will be provided for a capacity of about 318 spectators. The sports court will serve as a multipurpose space with wooden flooring, 2 changing rooms for athletes or regular users, 2 changing rooms for referees or monitors, a storage room and a facilities room. The Pavilion will receive natural light thanks to large windows open to the interior street towards the Quico Cabrera pavilion, and to Eduardo Zamacois street through the stands.

At the level of the stands there are 4 squash courts located between the pavilion and the tennis courts on the access ramp to the garage, with access from the pavilion and from the outdoor courts.
