Student Celia Casanova, 11, received an award for her writing work from the contest “Emmasa80 years of history”, granted by the Mixed Water Company of Santa Cruz (Emmasa) on the occasion of the activities organized, together with the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the company.
In her work, Celia Casanova conveys the importance of water in the development of Canarian society and in history, placing special emphasis on the case of the capital of Tenerife.
The award was presented by the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez; and the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife; with the presence of the Councilor for Education and Youth, Claudia Reverón. The mayor highlighted the importance of “promoting knowledge of the history of the city among the youngest”, while the councilor for Public Services congratulated the winner for being “so sensitive to the history of water and doing so through the promotion of creativity and writing.
Also present at the event was the managing director of Emmasa, Ignacio Muñiz, who recalled that the company celebrated 80 years of history of the integral water cycle in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in December, with activities such as a photographic and interactive exhibition, at the Los Lavaderos room, which was attended by 150 schoolchildren, as well as numerous visitors.
