The presidents of the Government of the Canary IslandsÁngel Víctor Torres, and the Council of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, have signed this Wednesday the second addendum to the agreement of collaboration for the extension Y gets better of southern hospitalin Tenerife.
This new agreement between both administrations gives free rein to the open process of expanding the Hospital del Sur, a plan that has a draft and for which an investment of around 40 million euros is expected by the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS). , details the regional government in a statement.
Pedro Martín has advanced that the works could begin before the end of this year.
The fitting out of new infrastructure to integrate into this complex and the implementation of more health services will mean the expansion of the existing activity and the incorporation of new medical services, such as the adult and pediatric ICU, the dialysis unit and the day, among others.
The project provides for the construction of a new building that will increase the area of the current center by 20,000 square meters and another 8,000 of reorganization of spaces, until reaching a total area of 47,000 square meters.
The Hospital del Sur currently has a surgical block in which interventions are carried out in the specialties of Ophthalmology, Gynecology, General Surgery, Traumatology, Dermatology, Urology and Maxillofacial, these two being the latest specialties to be incorporated into the hospital’s portfolio of services in 2022.
