SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Health Service has reported the start of the construction works on the annex building to the Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, in El Hierro, where the new magnetic resonance device will be installed. This action represents a total investment of more than 1.6 million euros.
The works of this new facility have been awarded by means of an open, simplified procedure and urgent processing to Terra Obra Civil SL for an amount of 863,644 euros, with IGIC at zero percent, with financing from ‘Next Generation’ charged to the Aid Fund for Recovery for Cohesion and Territories of Europe (REACT-EU).
This space, in addition to housing the magnetic resonance equipment, will serve to locate two consultations, waiting rooms and a bathroom for Specialized Care.
With the incorporation of magnetic resonance imaging in the hospital, patients from El Hierro will not have to travel to Tenerife to be able to undergo this diagnostic test and it is expected that it will mean a reduction in waiting lists for the areas of Tenerife and El Hierro of around 50 percent for this test.
From the Health Area of El Hierro, attached to the Ministry of Health, it is reported that during the months that the construction work of this new space lasts, one of the three parking areas near the hospital center will be temporarily unused, as that will be used for the entry and exit of the machinery for the development of the works. However, this situation will be adequately signposted in the area to facilitate access to the parking area for people who come to the hospital.
Recently, the company Philips Ibérica SA has also been awarded, for an amount of 757,050 euros, IGIC included, the contract for the supply through acquisition of type 1 magnetic resonance equipment, charged to the INVEAT Plan, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities to reduce the obsolescence of the technological park of the National Health System, coming from the Next Generation Funds, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The Order establishes that the delivery period for the new device will be eight months, although its installation will be conditional on the completion of the works for the adaptation of the space where the magnetic resonance will be located. It is expected that the maximum execution period for this action will be July 1, 2023 and the date for the commissioning of the new equipment to be before September 2023.
