The regatta fulfilled the planned program and celebrated six sleeves, in two complicated days where there were showers, rolls, a lot of south current and north-northeast wind that oscillated between the minimum intensity of seven knots and the maximum intensity of 20.

On February 25 and 26 the second Optimist class qualifier is held in Lanzarote and on March 11-12, the third in Gran Canaria. With the results of these three regattas, the Canarian ranking is drawn up, which will be used to form the Canarian teams for the cup and the Spanish championship of the class.

The tournament organized every year by the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife by delegation of the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation pays homage to the figure of Pel Escuder, who disappeared prematurely in 1991 when he presided over the Tenerife Island Sailing Federation and was immersed in carrying out projects such as the Tenerife Marine Sports Center (Cidemat). World champion in the Vaurient class together with his brother Fernando, an excellent companion and enthusiastic promoter of the sport, his death at the age of 29 shocked Canarian sailing, which honors him every year with this trophy.
