The almond blossom campaign fills the municipality with smell and flavor

The almond blossom campaign will fill the municipality of Santiago del Teide for a month. The mayor, Emilio Navarro, presented the acts of this edition that will take place from January 28 to February 26. It stands out among the festive, cultural, gastronomic and commercial activities, with the almond as its axis, the traditional route to observe these specimens of exceptional beauty at this time of year. It has already established itself as another tourist attraction and will open the calendar on the 28th. The program includes routes, musical performances, revitalization, contests or gastronomy workshops, among many other activities.

In the presentation, the Councilor for Culture, Sergio Mendoza, outlined the main attractions of a campaign that has established itself as one of the most relevant initiatives in Santiago del Teide from the tourist, cultural and commercial point of view.

The Councilor for Commerce, Krysten Martín, for her part, announced numerous details of the new edition of the gastronomic route, which will revolve around the leading role of almonds in gastronomy. It will have the participation of 18 commercial establishments of the municipality.

It is worth noting the presence of prominent personalities in the culinary field of the Island such as Pablo Pastor, president of the Association of Cooks and Pastry Chefs of Canary Islands (ACYRE), and the chefs that make up the gastronomic brand of the municipality SDT Gastrolovers. The latter will carry out a workshop with local products.

Also outstanding among the forecasts is the exhibition and tasting of Cocktails with Almonds that will be carried out by the Association of Bartenders of Tenerife.

The mayor of the municipality, Emilio Navarro, pointed out that “one more year we present the almond blossom initiative, linked to the product of nature that we have in Santiago del Teide.”

Navarro valued “a display of actions that has had the synergy of different areas of the consistory.” He had an impact on the idea of ”invigorating and increasing the economic activity of the municipality” along with “the generation of jobs that translates into a guarantee of well-being for our neighbors.”

The main attractions of the program are the routes between almond trees for all audiences, including one with pets. They will take place over three Saturdays, on January 28, February 4 and 11. The starting point of all will be the square of the southern municipality.

The tour that opens the event, on the 28th, is of a general nature. There are two long-haul routes and another two short-distance ones, plus the one reserved for traveling with pets.

On February 4, the almond blossom route has the addition of being barrier-free. A day dedicated to people with disabilities or mobility problems who also have the right to enjoy this spectacular Santiago landscape like the rest.

On February 11, under the suggestive title Almond Lovers Route, the last star activity of the program will take place, which will show the treasures in the form of almond trees that Santiago del Teide hides for a month.
