Although the exact day is not yet known, what is known is that next February, the beach in the area known as Acapulco-El Bloque, on the Valleseco coast, will open again for bathing, and it will after concluding the conditioning works of this part of the chicharrera coast. This same week, the elements of the playground have been placed, which will allow the little ones to enjoy the area, as well as the rest of the urban furniture that can already be seen in the place.
Last December, the Port Authority completed the part corresponding to the accesses to the sea and the solarium. A work financed by the Santa Cruz City Council with 461,156 euros, and executed by the Port Authority through the company Elfidio Pérez, which was the winner of the tender.
In this way, as the president of the Port Authority, Carlos González, recalled during his last visit to the works, “next summer the entire coastline will be enabled for bathing and leisure activities for citizens, and these actions in the Block-Acapulco, the result of an agreement with the City Council, will complete the action that is being carried out with the works of the project of the Charcos de Valleseco area”.
The Block, as it is popularly known, was used as a loading area for materials for the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife until the end of the 1970s. With some works that started last April, work has been carried out on an area of 4,000 square meters annexes to 130 linear meters, providing the area in addition to a comfortable and safe access to the coast.
Specifically, the works have undertaken improvements in accessibility, organization and the space has been provided with equipment for this purpose with accessories such as litter bins and showers, in addition to the integration and environmental camouflage of the actions with the planting of vegetation, evidencing the separation of the bathing areas of those accessing the port area.
