Costa Adeje closes its passage through the International Tourism Fair fulfilling an intense work schedule and exceeding the expectations set in its official presentation. This was stated by the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, and the Councilor for Tourism, Adolfo Alonso.
Rodríguez Fraga underlined the uniqueness of this edition, as it is the fair of “the return to normality, with the part of the lesson learned after the tourist zero and the series of negative circumstances that we have experienced”. The mayor highlighted that it has been “a very active Fitur, with a lot of participation and where we have transmitted and soaked up new trends, new dynamics, new stories and new market demands. In addition, it has helped us to reflect on what we all have to do to maintain and enhance the destination”.

Despite the fact that the figures for Costa Adeje have returned to normal pre-pandemic and have even improved, the mayor insisted on the favorable position of the destination: “We must continue in line with the commitment assumed and the strategy designed, which is not other than that quality also understood as a dynamic and changing element. It is in this effort that we are introducing elements to transfer value from the sector to society in a feedback process, so that tourism allows us to improve the living conditions of our citizens, in good services, a good cultural, sports, education, good jobs, and, in turn, reinforce a quality, modern, intelligent and sustainable tourism model”.
For his part, Adolfo Alonso stated that the assessment of Fitur 2023 is “highly positive, in all aspects, in terms of the intensity of work, agenda and objectives achieved. It has become clear that we are a benchmark municipality”.

The presentation of Costa Adeje drew attention for its uniqueness, highlighted the Councilor for Tourism: “Our staging has departed from the usual stereotypes, even in the official presentation we have caused a sensation because we are looking for a way to transmit and promote the destination which is not usual. The business community is happy, the feelings are positive. We have had a Fitur that moves away from the one where the restrictions set the guidelines ”.

Meeting with the minister

The mayor of Adejero held a meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Industry, Reyes Maroto. “We have found an optimal level of dialogue with the minister. Her great contribution to the tourism sector is the recognition of the importance of local destinations and what sun and beach tourism means, strongly internationalized and with a long history”, Rodríguez Fraga remarked.

Reyes Maroto recalled in his speech that sun and beach tourism was what opened Spain to the world and managed to position the country in wide and diverse markets.

It must be remembered that Rodríguez Fraga holds the presidency of the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands and last year also the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities of Sun and Beach at a national level.

“The relationship with the minister has always been constructive, positive, with a very satisfactory level of dialogue,” stressed the councilor Adejero, who recalled that with Reyes Maroto “actions have been promoted such as the appointment of 2023 as the year of sunny destinations and beach, and support plans and lines have been opened”.
