Happy non birthday – The Province

A previous curiosity: the origin of the dismissal of the vice-counselor of Public Administrations of the Government of the Canary IslandsManuel Martínez, who, as explained by his superior until the day before yesterday, the counselor Julio Perezwanted to leave because it was very hard for him to combine his executive position with that of deputy and secretary of Organization of the PSOE from Tenerife. The general director of Public Function, Montserrat García, was also dismissed, because she apparently plans to participate in the abracadabrante tests that are being prepared to stabilize positions in the administration. But if in both cases these are decisions derived from their will, why don’t they resign and it is the Government that should dismiss them? Some evil voices claim it’s because of the bitches. According to this interpretation, if you resign you lose the right to unemployment insurance, as in any other employment situation. If you are dismissed, you can ask for it and perhaps that interests you more than the three months that you have left as a deputy – you can round it off with allowances – or the time it takes to take a position as a civil servant. It is curious that no one has asked Mr. Pérez about it. (Weird, but not too weird.)

The Canarian PSOE thing is not really an electoral campaign. Personally, it reminds me more of the non-birthday parties that the Mad Hatter threw night and day. When Alice found him reveling around a table covered with cakes and sandwiches and cups of tea, the girl told her that she had no birthday that day either, and the Hat jumped for joy:

– Really? Insurance? Isn’t it extraordinary?

Of course, the Mad Hatter is Angel Victor Torres and Alicia any of the young or mature councillors, talented and tireless, that social democracy in the Canary Islands pours out like tea from a madman’s kettle. They even admit to Yaiza Castile, because this government is very unitary and, after all, they are all very progressive, and it is enough to observe Mrs. Castilla carefully to discover that she is nailed to Rosa Luxemburg. She takes out a huge Carolina Herrera watch from her bag, she scrutinizes it and comments to Torres:

– If my data is accurate last year, we definitely had 12,608,551 tourists…

– Really? And who was the Prime Minister when that historical milestone was achieved?

– Of course you and no one else but you.

‘Isn’t that extraordinary, dear?’ Do you want a little piece of cake?

– It’s very big and the tour operators have me on a diet.

– No, if this chunk is for you to take to Casimiro…

In all areas it is exactly the same. Perhaps we still haven’t enjoyed a banquet, but be patient, the Canary Islands are already an endless snack under the Hatter’s smile. All this madness – the cakes, the sandwiches, the tea – depends on extraordinary funds from Brussels and Madrid in a period that will not last and under exceptional conditions, to which is added a skyrocketing tax collection.

Meanwhile, the very modest Canarian middle class continues its process of pauperization, social inequality increases, the precariat laughs at Yolandista nonsense, 20% of Canarian patients did not get a medical appointment in 2022, with patients who have to urinate in bottles of water in emergencies acclimated to collapse and our universities don’t have a penny. But I wish the vast majority, in the name of the Mad Hatter, a happy un-birthday.
