The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hallthrough the Autonomous Organization for Festivals and Recreational Activities (Oafar), will celebrate today, in the surroundings of the Auditorio de Tenerife, the opening ceremony of the Carnival 2023. The inaugural gala, as defined by the organization, will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will be attended by the 36 aspiring queens in its three modalities (children, seniors and adults), who will know their order of participation through the raffle that will take place during the show, which is estimated to last approximately one hour.

Emilia González will be in charge of conducting this first date of the Carnival dedicated to the city of New York, which will also have the intervention of the dance groups of the chicharrero Carnival comparsas.

The Tenerife artist Jadel, interpreter of Suave, the official song of this edition, will perform on the red carpet on a stage inspired by the most representative elements of the North American metropolis.

During the development of the show, the five presenters of the Children’s Gala will also be known, who were selected from more than twenty boys and girls, in the casting held last Wednesday, the 11th.

The inaugural show of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be under the direction of Enrique Camacho and will be broadcast live through Televisión Canaria for the entire Archipelago.

The organization’s forecast is that close to a thousand people will be able to enjoy this inaugural gala of Carnival 2023, which will take place in the space between the Plaza del Castillo Negro and the stairs of the Auditorio de Tenerife, a part of the buildings that will be protagonist, since it will serve so that the candidates can parade with greater prominence. As for the scenery, and in relation to the theme of Carnival this year, you can enjoy the New York skyline as one more of the props that will be placed in the stage space.

As it is an outdoor show, the forecast that it could rain makes the organization consider holding the gala tomorrow, if the rain finally prevents the show from being held. Yesterday afternoon, the rain made it difficult to hold the dress rehearsal, so today we will be very attentive to the evolution of the weather.
